Horses are no doubt quite an integral aspect of a variety of video games. Aside from horse games having their own genre, there’s also the fact that horses play a major role in various games of other genres as well such as allowing players to travel from one point to another quickly or giving them access to different abilities. No matter what their purpose, though, the addition of horses is something that almost always ends up improving a game. There have been some horses in particular that certainly helped elevate the whole experience to a new level due to how memorable they are and these are the horses that we’ll be focusing on in this article.

The following horses are no doubt some of the most memorable horses in gaming:

1: Roach (The Witcher)

Roach is, of course, Geralt’s horse from the Witcher games. Although he played a fairly basic role in the first two installments of the Witcher game series, Roach became a major aspect in The Witcher 3 and was no doubt one of the most memorable parts of the game. Aside from being extremely useful when traveling long distances, Roach was also a friend of Geralt so there was lots of dialogue that gave players an insight into the friendship these two had. These memorable dialogues, alongside the utility Roach provided, definitely make him one of the most memorable horses in video games.

2: Agro (Shadow of the Colossus)

Argo is without a doubt one of the best parts of Shadow of the Colossus. The bond shared between Wander and Argo is something that we keep learning more and more about as the game goes on. Alongside this, though, Argo is also insanely fast-paced and responsive to control so this was definitely a great horse that pretty much every Shadow of the Colossus player remembers even years later.

3: Horses in Red Dead Redemption 2

Although there isn’t necessarily a specific horse that we’ll be discussing from RDR 2, this game still deserves a mention because the horses in the game are no doubt among the best in gaming. Alongside requiring realistic care consisting of constant cleaning and feeding, these horses also have realistic movements and feel incredibly responsive to control so they are easily some of the very best horses in gaming.

4: Rapidash from Pokémon Games

Rapidash might not be a traditional horse but this iconic Pokémon definitely deserves a spot on this list as it’s no doubt one of the most iconic horses in gaming. Rapidash is a Pokémon that, since its introduction in one of the first generations, has remained popular amongst players and will likely continue to remain as such thanks to its incredibly creative design.

Overall, while we’ve certainly seen quite a few great horses in gaming over the years, the ones mentioned above are no doubt the most memorable.
